Mr. Makara graduated as Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Physics from the National University of Lesotho in 1998. Mr. Makara obtained the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certification in December 1999 and a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification in July 2000 due to his measured experience and expertise in systems and products of the two companies. He is currently enrolled for the final year of Master of Business Administration (MBA) with the Management College of Southern Africa (MANCOSA).
The Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA) immediately hired him as a Systems Support Officer just a few weeks after completion of his Bachelor’s degree to provide network and application support to the users by resolving their technical problems. He administered and support Microsoft Applications and Operating Systems like Windows 95/98/NT/2000 and later Windows XP. Microsoft Office applications were also support to large scale throughout the organization.
At this position, he was also working as a PC Technician, which gave him an opportunity to explore and learn new IT technologies and systems whilst still interacting with people who needed any kind of technical assistance.
Due to his high work rate and dedication, he was promoted to a Senior Systems Support Officer about 3 years later. At this level he was tasked with Windows network administration running on TCP/IP protocol, which consisted of various Local Area Networks (LANs.) and Wide Are Network (WAN). As he gained more experience in Windows platform, He put together a number of Windows NT/2000 domain networks, installed Exchange Servers, SQL Servers, Enterprise antivirus solutions, Corporate Applications software, Network monitoring software and a lot more. Mr. Makara later self-taught himself Linux and used it to configure Internet E-mail Servers, firewalls and gateways.
In the late 1999, Mr. Makara started working with SAP, tasked with performing Basis administration and databases management. With high turnover of IT staff at LHDA, we had to be involved with Authorization management, security management; as well change management within the SAP system in addiction is original tasks for the next 4 years.
Due to his experience, Mr Makara now possess the ability to analyze, design and implement software systems using various development methodologies and tools. Plan, design and implement networking projects. Install and configure various hardware and software platforms. Develop and implement IT policies and Strategies like Disaster Recovery Plans, Information Security Policies, Change Management Policies, Backup and Recovery Procedures and a lot more.
